Brilliant-cut shapes (maximum sparkle)

- Oval: Brilliant faceting in an elongated silhouette that looks larger than its carat weight and flatters the hand. Ideal L/W ratio 1.30–1.50.

- Asscher: A square step cut with cropped corners and concentric facets for a distinctive Art Deco look.
How to choose a shape
Shape is ultimately about personal taste. That said, a few practical points help: round brilliants hide inclusions and color best and sparkle most; elongated shapes (oval, marquise, pear) can make fingers look longer and appear larger per carat; and step cuts (emerald, asscher) reward higher color and clarity grades because there is nowhere for imperfections to hide.
